Why You Should Learn How to Cook

In an era where food delivery services and eating out are so ingrained in modern society, it is no surprise that many people do not know how to cook. And why should they? It often takes a lot of time and nobody wants to clean up after that. However, we still believe that cooking is an essential skill that everybody should have, and here are our reasons why:

It keeps your wallet happy

Cooking is less expensive than eating out at restaurants and ordering food delivery. When you learn how much ingredients cost and compare them to how much restaurants are charging per meal, you'll definitely want to start cooking for yourself and save all that money for something else.

You know what's in your food

If you have a dietary restriction or food allergies, making your own food gives you full control over what goes into your body and it also gives you the freedom to modify your meals to your liking.

You'll learn organisational and multi-tasking skills

Cooking requires you to remember recipes and maximising the use of your time so you're not wasting anything during your meal preparation. Sure, you might burn or ruin some meals during your early days but with a lot of practice, you'll be able to whip up meals for your entire family without breaking a sweat.

You'll learn to enjoy healthier meals

When you start to cook for yourself, it's also the beginning of a lifestyle change. As your skills improve and your body gets used to the meals you prepare, it's not uncommon to find yourself enjoying a bowl of nuts and vegetables more than a greasy, oily piece of chicken.

It has the power to connect people

Just like music, food is a universal language that everybody shares. Think of your happiest memories. Does food feature in many of them? How did you feel when someone you love cooked something for you? More likely than not, you felt happy whenever somebody cooks something delicious for you.
