5 Reasons Why Women Are Awesome

This year, the theme for International Women's Day is "choose to challenge", because a challenged world is an alert world. Each of us is responsible for our own thoughts and actions every day. Collectively, let us call out gender bias and inequality around us and celebrate the awesome women in our lives!

Here are the top reasons why women are awesome: 💪

Women tend to live longer

According to statistics covering the last century, women tend to outlive men by seven years on average 📈

All hail the longevity of women!

Women make better leaders than men

A 2011 study published in the Harvard Business Review blog revealed that women outscored men in all but one of 16 leadership competencies. As the study said, "...at every level, more women were rated by their peers, their bosses, their direct reports, and their other associates as better overall leaders than their male counterparts — and the higher the level, the wider that gap grows."

It's no surprise that Jacinda Ardern has handled the COVID-19 pandemic extremely well in New Zealand! 👩‍💼

Women withstand pain better than men

A study conducted by McGill University in 2019 revealed that women can handle pain better than men and it all comes down to how both sexes remember their agony differently. While women forget their pain, men don't. Therefore, when both sexes encounter the pain again, men are more "stressed and hypersensitive" to that pain than women 🧘‍♀️

Women have superior communication skills

Several studies in the past 30 years have indicated that women are better communicators than men. They also suggest that women are able to listen with more empathy than men and are more prone to letting others finish their sentences 👭

Women are more likely to survive critical accidents

A 2010 study by researchers at John Hopkins Hospital confirms that male hormones put men at a disadvantage — in comparison to women — when it comes to dealing with severe physical trauma. When hormones are in full swing for individuals aged 13 to 64, women were 14% more likely to survive than men 🤸‍♀️
